ED GRANT'S 2009 FRESHMEN ALL-STATE CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS
Following are the New Jersey Track all-state freshman teams for the 2009 cross-country season.
The girls' selections are principally based on performances on the varsity level, with the early
class meets at shorter distances also being considered. For the boys, freshman events play a major
role since a number of those chosen never got to run a varsity race. Matt Nelson of Barnegat easily
topped the boys with a 24th place finish at the all-group meet capping a season that matched those
of the best New Jersey years of past years: the Rosa twins, Brad Hudson and Caig Forys. He won
one invitational and finished in the top six in his group, sectional, conference and county meets.
Natalia Ocasio of Lenape led the girls, placing 20th in the all-group meet, ninth in Gr. IV and
winning the SJ sectionals, earning a place on the varsity all-state third team. Kelly Janokowicz played
a key role in Hillsboro's AG victory and Meagan Malloy of Cinnaminson, Casey Quinto of Hopewell Valley
and Reagan Kolakowski of Mendham were all in the top 50 at the AG meet.
